Hot Tips to Live Your Last Summer Weekend to the Fullest

We all love the crisp smell of fall in the air, football, the beauty of leaves changing color, cozy sweatshirts and everything that comes with autumn, but no matter how much you love pumpkin spice everything, the end of summer is still bittersweet. So as first official day of fall looms over our sun-kissed heads, here is a list of ways to get all you can out of the last weekend of summer.

  • Listen to your favorite summer playlist nonstop. If you don’t have one, make one. And if you don’t want to make one, tune into Radio Margaritaville.
  • Eat your favorite summer foods (lots to choose from here!)…drink lemonade, BBQ in the backyard, eat watermelon slices and ice cream on a stick.
  • Go for a swim, put your toes in the ocean or jump in the lake, during the day or for a last chance at night swimming. The water isn’t that cold yet!
  • Challenge the neighborhood to one last cornhole tournament.
  • Pick fresh flowers. Give them away or put them in a mason jar or vase on your coffee table.
  • Go camping before you need 10 layers to sleep outside.
  • Be a tourist in your own town or a neighboring town. You can take a mini road trip with friends, go to an outdoor concert, eat a snowball or visit the nearest beach or lake.
  • Make popcicles.
  • Set up a hammock, blanket or chair and go tech free.
  • Enjoy the sunset while it still happens late enough to actually stop and watch.
  • Make a huge fruit salad with all the summer fruits that will be gone soon. And while you’re slicing, put some extra in the freezer for a summer treat in January.
  • Finish the book that you said you were going to read by the end of the summer. For extra credit, finish it on a blanket at the park.
  • Have a bonfire with your friends.
  • Check out your local farmers market.
  • It’s fair season, so indulge in a day or night of rides, fried food and innocence.
  • Write a nice hand written letter and drop it in the mail.
  • Take plenty of photos to capture the sunshine and to look back on when the temperatures drop. Feeling extra creative? Scrapbook it or make a video collage set to your song of the summer.
  • Spend the day on a boat, a kayak or a paddle board.
  • Go to a baseball game.
  • Move to Margaritaville so summer will never end.
  • Grab your favorite float, put Jaws on the big screen (or another summer flick) and have a pool movie night. A bed sheet doubles as a great DIY movie screen.
  • Hit the greens…play a traditional 18 holes or battle the windmill at your local putt putt.
  • Plan a trip to paradise hold you over until next summer.
