MargU: Where Are They Now? (Part 2)

Margaritaville University alumni have spoken, and believe it or not, MargU is more than just a whole ton of fun. Our ambassadors work hard and play hard, so here are a few more stories about where some of our alumni ended up after earning their degrees. (Read the first article here.)

Kylie B.
University of Missouri, Journalism and Information Technology

Hello and Fins Up! My name is Kylie and I graduated from University of Missouri/MargU in Spring 2017. Since graduating, I lived in Chicago for two years working for a web design and development company, and recently moved to Kansas City, MO, where I now work as a consultant at a healthcare software company.

MargU was an incredible experience in college as it brought a brand I have loved since I was a child right to my university (Go Tigers!). It pushed me out of my comfort zone, as I was always promoting the brand to friends and new faces on campus. In college, students are moving a million miles a minute between class, clubs and preparing for the future. Margaritaville University represents taking a moment to breathe, relax and escape.

I learned how to effectively craft a marketing message and improved my communication abilities, which have both been tremendously helpful in my career. In job interviews, I often brought up MargU, as it showed my capabilities to be motivated, self-disciplined and outgoing. It also has been a great FIN fact to use at company meetings to meet other parrothead coworkers!

Taylor J.
Temple University, Kinesiology

Hi! My name is Taylor. I graduated from Temple University in 2017. I was part of the inaugural class of MargU! I am currently attending DeSales University where I am pursuing my Doctorate of Physical Therapy. I will be graduating by the end of this year and will work in an outpatient orthopedic clinic.

In the future, I hope to eventually own and run my own clinic! MargU has positively impacted my life in many ways. I couldnā€™t promote MargU at Temple without living the lifestyle myself, so it taught me how to find relaxation and my ā€œescapeā€ wherever I needed to. It has provided me a large network of people with similar interests, with who I still follow in their lives today!

In addition to the personal benefits of living the Margaritaville lifestyle, MargU has been a constant conversation starter in so many settings, even job interviews! Most importantly, MargU has helped me to never forget my favorite Jimmy Buffett lyrics ā€œbreathe in, breathe out, move onā€.

Zach H.
Oakland University, Marketing

Hi! My name is Zach, and I graduated from Oakland University in 2017! One of the highlights of my college experience was being a part of the ORIGINAL Margaritaville University ambassador group and all of the fun and experiences that came along with it.

Not only was it an honor as a second generation Parrothead, but it also proved invaluable after I graduated and started looking to start my career. From working with the other ambassadors, I am now able to bring a different point of view to many situations and the program leadership wrote me the best recommendation letter I have ever read. I now work as an Account Executive for United Wholesale Mortgage in Pontiac, Michigan, and I love every second of it. Fins Up!

Isabelle R.
Ole Miss, Marketing & Spanish

My name is Isabelle, and I graduated from Ole Miss and MargU in 2019. I was part of both the inaugural Ambassador and Campus Brand Manager classes. Iā€™m now loving living in Dallas, Texas, and working in account management for Lockton Insurance Brokers.

As Jimmy Buffett would say, I am ā€˜Growing Older but Not Upā€™. MargU taught me so much, especially with meeting new people and spreading the Margaritaville vibe throughout our college town. Being a part of the program showed me hands-on how passionate I am about marketing and even inspired me to choose marketing as my major. Fins Up!

Lindsay R.
University of Cincinnati, Communications

Hi! Iā€™m Lindsay and I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in Spring 2018 as a communications major with a publication relations certification as well. Iā€™m now a Sales Counselor for a new construction home builder, Fischer Homes.

My experience with creating MargU events has allowed me to continue to assist with brand awareness in my current position. I help out with the University’s ā€œDress to Impressā€ event. At our table, students try to guess what shoes are business professional and what are not (all in favor of making flip flops business professional?).

I loved my time at MargU, and will always been a faithful alum!

Katie L.
Minnesota State University, Business Management

Hello! I graduated from Margaritaville University and Minnesota State University, Mankato with a major in Business Management and minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation in 2018.

After college, I worked as a sales trainee at Ziegler Caterpillar and then moved into my current role as an Ag Product Manager. My job is to integrate new Ag products into our branches across Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Missouri.

Margaritaville was something they found to be super cool and interesting on my resume. MargU differentiated me from the rest of the applicants and helped the interviewers remember me. I bring my Margaritaville coffee mugs to work, wear my shirts all the time and always bring my backpack traveling.

The Margaritaville University College Ambassador Program is currently accepting applications for the 2021- 2022 school year. Learn more about Margaritaville University here.
