The Margaritaville Surf Team: Meet Lola

Fins (and Surf’s) Up for the Margaritaville Surf Team!

A team made up of three talented sisters, these girls rip. Mason, Lola and Scarlett call Hawaii home, but their passion for surfing and intense competitive schedule keep them traveling around the world.  Between waves we were able to catch up with the team to learn a little more about the ladies behind the boards.

Let’s get to know the middle Schremmer girl, Lola!

Birthday: October 16, 2001

When did you start surfing?
I started surfing when I moved to Hawaii when I was 9 or 10 years old.

What’s your favorite thing about surfing or being on the water?
Surfing is so much fun for me! I love that its so inventive and that everyone can develop their own style.

Where is your Margaritaville?
My Margaritaville is anywhere with perfect waves, great friends, and good music playing at all times.

Describe your favorite burger:
I’ve always wanted to try a mac-n-cheese stuffed burger. My all time favorite is from a burger place down the street from First Point Noosa in Australia.

Favorite Jimmy Buffett lyric or song?
My favorites are “Knee Deep,” “Floridays,” “Come Monday,” “Woman Goin’ Crazy on Caroline Street,” “Frank and Lola”, “Last Mango in Paris,” “Fins,” and “Brown Eyed Girl.” Jimmy was also in a movie called “Hoot.” It’s one of my favorites!

Where was the best sunset or sunrise you have ever seen? No filter at Playa la Saladita.

When you’re not surfing, what do you do for fun?
I’m always traveling so I like to make the most of any moment and try new things. When I’m home I like to hang out with my friends and go hiking or once in a while I’ll go to the driving range with my mom and play some golf.

Favorite person to surf with?
I was blessed with two sisters so I always have someone fun to surf with! I also love to surf with my best friends, who are going to be world champion surfers one day. (You know who you are!) When Jimmy comes to Oahu for a visit, I like to surf with him at an un-crowded break just behind his apartment.

Favorite place you’ve gone to surf or compete?
I’m very lucky to have the opportunity to travel the world for surfing. I fall in love with every place I visit because each place brings new and amazing experiences. Some of the best memories I’ve made have been in Saladita, Mexico and Noosa, Byron Bay, and the Gold Coast in Australia.

What surfing award, accolade or accomplishment are you most proud of?
It’s always a major confidence boost whenever I win a contest in my age group, especially when I beat my sister Mason (haha!). I like entering pro divisions because then I get to surf against some of my idols and learn from them. I’m most proud of winning 2 divisions at the Australian Longboard Open, 3rd place at NSSA Nationals for longboard, and 1st place in Women’s Pro at the Hawaiian Noseriding Classic. That was the first time I ever won money in a competition! I know how to learn from my losses and to stay positive. If it’s not fun, its not worth it.
