Cinco de Mayo is about tacos, margaritas, guacamole, mariachi and tequila… right? Actually, our favorite Mexican holiday celebrates the unexpected victory of Mexico over France in the 1862 Battle of Puebla. While the French still eventually took over Mexico, this date is significant for celebrating true Mexican heroism.

We’ve adopted some of our favorite parts of Mexican culture across the country to make Cinco de Mayo a more celebrated event in the U.S.! It’s the best day of the year to eat Mexican foods and dance to mariachi, so make sure your margarita glass is always half full (and then some).
