DIY: get festive with a Lei Wreath

Add some Margaritaville spunk and color to your front door with this DIY wreath. The hardest part about making this wreath was deciding which leis to buy! The options are endless and this certainly won’t be last one of these that I whip up this summer.

What you’ll need:

12 inch round styrofoam wreath
6-8 flower leis
Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks
Scissors

Level of difficulty: easy

Hands on time: 45 minutes

Instructions:

Cut the first lei and add a dot of hot glue to the back of the wreath. Secure one end of the lei to the hot glue dot. Hold for ten seconds.

Pro tip: you have to glue down the string or the lei will just pull through. Lay the string over the glue dot and then put a lei petal over it and press. It’s a little friendlier on the fingertips.

Wrap the lei around the wreath and cut where it meets the end that is glued down. Glue and hold for ten seconds.

Leave a half to one inch space between the first lei and the second.

Repeat cut-glue-wrap-cut-glue steps, working your way all the way around the wreath.

Hang your wreath up using a nail or a wreath hanger for instantĀ Margaritaville vibes. It’ll be summer all the time in your house!

You can make a pattern or just place the leis randomly around the wreath. We started with a pattern but ended up going random because that’s kind of how we roll, but you do you. Happy crafting!
