Celebrate World Egg Day By Cracking One Into Your Cocktail

In honor of world egg day, may we suggest doing the best thing one can do with an egg? Clearly our answer is to mix it with alcohol. Trust us, once you try one of these four delicious, egg-based cocktails, you’ll be hooked.

To make this sweet classic, you need a little bit of bitter, a little bit of sweet and one egg.

  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 oz absinthe
  • 1 oz brandy
  • 1 tsp superfine sugar or simple syrup
  • Dash of blood orange bitters
  • Ice

Combine egg white, absinthe, brandy, sugar or simple syrup and bitters in a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with ice. Shake vigorously until condensation beads up on the outside of the shaker, at least 30 seconds. Strain contents into a wineglass and serve.

Egg white stars (along with star anise) in this festive fall cocktail, which almost looks too good to drink. Almost.

  • 2 oz gin
  • 1 1/4 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1 large egg white
  • 3/4 oz spiced pear simple syrup*
  • 1-2 oz club soda
  • Star anise for garnish + 3 for simple syrup

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add gin, lemon juice, egg white and spiced sear simple syrup (instructions below) to cocktail shaker. Replace lid and shake for 15 seconds or until shaker becomes frosty. Strain into cocktail glass. Top with club soda, garnish with star anise and serve.

*To make the spiced pear simple syrup:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 pear, cored and cut into pieces
  • 3 star anise
  • 2 cardamom pods

Simmer water, sugar, pear, star anise and cardamom in a pan for about 5 minutes. Cool and strain.

You can’t talk about egg-based cocktails and leave out eggnog. Get psyched for the holidays early with this fun and simple take on a Christmas classic.

  • 2 1/2 oz eggnog
  • 1 oz vanilla vodka

  • 1 egg
  • Whole nutmeg for grating
